You are invited to participate in the Manitoba Teachers’ Society’s first ever Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:30 PM. The main topic that will be discussed is the upcoming federal election and the issues that matter to educators. MTS President Norm Gould will be joined by representatives from the Canadian Teachers’ Federation who will talk about their Hear My Voice: Vox Campaign.
Only members who have registered for a MyProfile Account (https://memberlink.mbteach.org/Register.aspx) will be contacted to participate, so please register at the link provided as soon as possible if you want your voice heard on September 30th.
What Is A Virtual Townhall?
A Virtual Town Hall, or Telephone Town Hall, is a cross between a conference call with thousands of participants and a private talk radio show. The Telephone Town Hall has proven to be one of the most effective membership engagement tools and is used by political parties, advocacy groups and labour organizations across North America.
How Does it Work?
On Monday, September 28th, an automated voice message from President Norm Gould and will be sent to the home of every MTS member that has an MTS “MyProfile” account. This message will advise that they will receive another call on September 30th where they will be given the opportunity to participate in a live Telephone Town Hall with the President and special guests to talk about the upcoming federal election.
At 7:30 PM on September 30th, every MTS member will receive another phone call from MTS. This time, when the member answers the call, they will be joining a live conversation with the President who will be facilitating the conversation, much like a radio talk show host. While listening to the conversation from the comfort of their homes, members will have the opportunity to ask questions or make comments by simply pressing a button on their phone. They will then be connected to an ‘operator’ who will take their question and put in queue for the President to read and respond.
So sign up for your MyProfile Account today so you can have your say on September 30th!
